PIONEERING Higher Education in the Private Sector Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya Education Society’s mission of leading the students into light and life began in 1945, when its public-spirited founder fathers joined hands to form the Veerashaiva Education Society. The Society, aimed to address the critical demand, for good educational centres in Bangalore at that time, and embarked on its mission, with the establishment of the Basappa Intermediate College, one of the earliest private institutions of higher learning in Karnataka. The college began from the present main campus at Ananda Rao circle, and grew well for 11 years, after which it needed to be upgraded into a First Grade College, and therefore demanded a greater resource base for its future management. Realizing this, Sri Rambhapuri Peeta came forward and graciously gifted the college and the surrounding land to the Society, which resulted in the renaming of the Veerashaiva Education Society as Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya Education Society, and the Basappa Intermediate College as Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya Science College, in 1956. Sri Rambhapuri Peeta in Balehonnur, Chickmagalur, Karnataka, is one of the five Dharmic seats, established by the venerable Adi Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya, and the SJR Education Society and its institutions have been prospering under the blessings of the seers of the Peeta, ever since 1956.
LIBERAL Growth through Liberal Education With that turning point in 1956, the Society entered a grand new phase of expansion.New colleges, new locations, new buildings, new infrastructure, new services and new staff became the order of the day, as the management went on responding actively to the soaring demands of students, parents and others concerned about the availability of good educational facilities in Bangalore.

Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya Education Society has a brilliant history of over 6 decades as a leader in Karnataka’s private educational sector. As a result of this steady expansion, the Society today has a total strength of about 7000 students, from its 6 colleges and 3 schools in Bangalore, the latest among these being the SJR Kengeri Public School. The institutions are noted for their quality of service, infrastructural sophistication, philosophy of holistic education and futuristic outlook. Sri Jagadguru Renukacharya Education Society has rendered its service in the field of education. Private educational institutions play a vital role in supplementing the efforts of the government in setting up educational infrastructure in the country.
